For our individual therapy sessions, I approach our work together as a collaborative encounter. I intend to co-create with you a confidential and non-judgemental therapeutic relationship, in which you feel accepted and understood.
I believe that human beings have the capacity to heal and lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. Nevertheless, unhealthy relationships, traumatic experiences, and broader environmental and social systems can influence our choices and hinder our wellbeing.
At a pace that feels comfortable for you, we can begin to make sense of your feelings, beliefs, and life experiences that may have been difficult to talk about before. The therapeutic relationship can be the ground on which deeper self-awareness and self-acceptance grows; a designated space for you to experience healthy boundaries, a sense of safety, and empathy that might be lacking from everyday life or the larger sociopolitical context.
I can provide you with resources to support you along the way, when you feel it’s necessary. I do not seek to impose anything on you, nor can I give you ready-made solutions. However, we will work together towards recovery, growth, and towards developing the kind of life and relationships you want.
My practice is trauma & dissociation-informed; queer and trans affirmative; and through the lens of intersectionality and critical awareness.
